For the Municipal Corporation of Delhi 2022, voting is to be held on all 250 seats today. This time a total of 1349 candidates are in the fray here. These candidates have also filed their affidavits before the Election Commission, whose studies have been released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). Out of 1336 candidates studied, 139 (10%) candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves. It has increased as compared to 2017. In the 2017 MCD elections, out of 2,315 candidates studied, 173 (7%) had declared criminal cases against themselves.
You gave tickets to the most tainted

Criminal cases are registered against 139 candidates, that is, about ten percent of the candidates who contested in this election. Most of the tainted candidates are from Aam Aadmi Party. AAP’s 18 per cent i.e. 45 candidates have criminal cases registered against them. There has been an increase in tainted candidates as compared to 2017. In 2017, only seven per cent of the candidates had criminal cases against them.
BJP gave ticket to 27 and Congress to 25 tainted

According to the ADR report, criminal cases are pending against 11 percent of the BJP’s candidates, ie 27, in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. At the same time, cases are going on against 10 percent of Congress candidates i.e. 25 candidates. Out of the total candidates, 76 have cases registered under serious sections like murder and attempt to murder. Of these, 45 candidates are contesting on BJP, Congress and AAP tickets.

Aam Aadmi Party’s highest eight percent 19 candidates have cases registered under serious sections. At the same time, six percent of the BJP i.e. 14 and five percent of the Congress candidates i.e. 12 have cases registered under serious sections.
There are a total of six candidates against whom cases have been registered under section 307 of the IPC for attempt to murder. At the same time, there is also a candidate against whom a case of murder under section 302 of the IPC is registered.
BSP and MIM also fielded many tainted candidates
Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party is also in the fray in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Out of its 129 candidates, three per cent i.e. four have criminal cases registered against them. At the same time, cases are going on against two percent i.e. three candidates under serious sections.
The AIMIM led by Asaduddin Owaisi has also come out to contest the municipal elections of Delhi. Five out of its 15 have cases registered against them under criminal sections. Apart from this, there are three candidates of AIMIM who are facing trial in serious cases.
