Arab merchant ship Uruj has also reached inside the Kerala pavilion in the trade fair. Sasidharan has brought this ship. He is making small models of this ship here. The Uruj was used as a trading ship by the Arabs for thousands of years. It was mostly used to carry spices from Kerala. This was used in the sea till the ships running on petroleum fuel were made.

Later it stopped being made. But even today some people make this ship in Beypore village of Kerala. Beypore port has a practice of making Oruj ships since 700 years. It is made from teak wood. Sasidharan says that for the first time this ship was brought to Kerala by Arab traders. But its texture was different from the modern Uruz. Later the artisans of Beypore modified Uruj and gave it to Arab traders. Due to the safety and strength of Urooj made in Kerala, Arab traders liked it. Later Arab traders started using it. The big figure of the Uruj ship has been installed at the entrance of the Kerala pavilion, which becomes the identity of the Kerala pavilion. As soon as he enters the pavilion from the entrance, Sasidharan is preparing samples of uruj in front of him.

thirteenth generation making puppets
The thirteenth generation of a family from Soranur village in Palakkad district in Kerala has been making and performing leather puppets for thousands of years. Ramchandra Pulwar of this family has been awarded Padma Shri for his work. His son Rajeev has come to Pulwar Trade Fair. He is also performing puppet shows at the Kerala Pavilion. His father has done puppet shows in 45 countries. He is also imparting puppet making training to the students of National Institute of Fashion Designing.
