The flyover of Ashram Chowk was closed late Sunday evening for 45 days. Because of this there was a jam in the evening. The traffic police has issued an advisory in this regard. Police have advised motorists to use alternate routes. Actually, the closure of Ashram flyover will affect the traffic between East Delhi, Noida, South Delhi and IGI Airport. Three to four lakh vehicles pass through here daily. After the closure of the flyover, traffic will increase on Barapullah, Kalindi Kunj, Mathura Road and ITO. A new flyover is being constructed to extend the PWD Ashram flyover and connect it to the DND.

The PWD has said that the flyover was closed in the evening instead of in the morning due to delay in the work of installing red beacons under the Ashram Extension flyover on CV Raman Marg. The work started on the first day of the new year to connect the new and old flyovers is expected to be completed by the second week of February.

During this period, motorists will use Mata Mandir Marg from Badarpur to Ring Road and Sarai Kale Khan. On the other hand, motorists will have to use U-turn to go to Badarpur, Sarita Vihar, Jamia to Captain Gaur Marg, Lajpat Nagar and AIIMS. While the motorists should use Ring Road to reach Noida from Chirag Delhi and IIT.

Similarly, to go to AIIMS and Dhaulakuan from Akshardham and Noida, one has to go via Bhairo Road, Mathura Road-Sarai Kale Khan. Those going to Ring Road and Mathura Road from AIIMS and New Delhi will have to use Lodi Road, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg and Lala Lajpat Rai Marg from AIIMS and Chirag Delhi to Noida and NH-24. From AIIMS, Moolchand and Lala Lajpat Rai Marg, it is advised to use Captain Gaur Marg for Mathura Road, Sarita Vihar and Badarpur.
