The BJP, which is vying to win power for the fourth time in the MCD elections, has a long list of experienced candidates. The second number with a long distance is of the Aam Aadmi Party. Congress has the least experienced candidates.

According to statistics, about one-third of the BJP candidates have been corporators earlier. Whereas, AAP has reposed trust in only 12 per cent old corporators. While the Congress has given tickets to only 12 former councilors out of 250 seats in the corporation. Experts say that the main reason for this is the first ruling of the BJP in the MCD.

Out of 250 seats in the corporation, the BJP has fielded 70 candidates who have been councilors earlier. Six of these former councilors have been mayors. At the same time, two former chairmen of the Standing Committee are also in the fray.

Similarly, the ex-councilors who handled the work of Leader of the House and Deputy Mayor are also trying their luck in the electoral fray. In the integrated MCD, not only the BJP councilors, but many former councilors who were the presidents of several important committees are also in the fray.

On the other hand, among the former councilors contesting on AAP ticket, only one candidate has maximum MCD experience. This former councilor who came to AAP from Congress has been the chairman of the standing committee in the integrated MCD. Apart from this, the Leader of Opposition has also been in the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, whereas only two of your own former councilors are well aware of the working of MCD. Both these former councilors have been Leader of Opposition in North Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Though many former corporators who quit Congress and contested on AAP ticket are known to be knowledgeable about the working of MCD, but they are sweating it out to become corporators after many years.
