The Lieutenant Governor has approved the prosecution of Shehla Rashid, former vice-president of the JNU Students’ Union, in connection with her controversial remarks against the Army. Rashid had made two controversial tweets against the Indian Army in August 2019.
It is alleged that apart from reducing mutual harmony, it also encouraged enmity between the groups. On September 3, 2019, the Special Cell registered an FIR against Shehla under Section 153-A of the IPC. Now after getting prosecution approval from LG, the case will go on.
