The Delhi government has become active in administering the oath to the newly elected councilors of MCD and conducting the election of the mayor, deputy mayor and six members to be elected from the house. The Delhi government has sent a proposal to the Lieutenant Governor to hold the meeting of the MCD House on January 18, 20, 21 or 24 to administer the oath to the councilors and for the mayoral election.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia gave information by tweeting on Thursday regarding the proposal sent to the Lieutenant Governor. He told that the MCD had requested to hold the meeting of the House on January 30, but the Delhi government has sent a proposal to convene the meeting of the House before January 26. He said that the MCD has been working without a mayor for the last eight months. For this reason, it is not right to delay the election of mayor.

The MCD had sent a report to the Lieutenant Governor on Monday last regarding non-administration of oath to the councilors in the House on January 6 and non-election of the mayor, deputy mayor and members of the standing committee. Apart from this, the MCD had also urged him to fix a date for calling the House meeting. The MCD, on its part, had suggested calling a meeting on January 30. At the same time, the MCD had blamed the members of the Aam Aadmi Party for the ruckus in the House.
