In order to provide world-class civic infrastructure to the people of Delhi, the Delhi Government has approved several projects in the last 5 years. On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia reviewed the infrastructure development projects of education, health and PWD approved under the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC). He informed that in the last five years, 77 major projects worth Rs 19,546 crore have been approved by the Delhi government through EFC. These include 26 projects of PWD, 26 projects of classroom and other infrastructure development in schools and universities and 25 projects of infrastructure development of new hospitals and hospitals.

This includes many major flagship projects of Delhi. FC approves only those projects which are above the cost of Rs 100 crore. Sisodia said that the priority of the Kejriwal government after coming to power has been to ensure the best infrastructure of education, health and city infrastructure for the people of Delhi. The Delhi government has approved 77 major infrastructure development projects since 2017 at a cost of Rs 19545.86 crore.

26 projects in education sector

In the field of education, 26 major infrastructure projects worth Rs 8683.81 crore have been flagged off. These include new classrooms, sports complex and installation of CCTV cameras in Delhi government schools. Along with this, the Kejriwal government is also building two new campuses of Ambedkar University at Rohini and Dhirpur. The government has also constructed several new academic blocks and hostels in several technical universities for training and technical education (TTE) students.

20 thousand beds will increase in the hospital

In the health sector, 25 major projects worth Rs 4452.72 crore were approved. This includes construction of new hospitals, construction of new blocks in hospitals, construction of ICU hospitals, etc. More than half of these projects have been completed and some are in progress. With this, the number of beds in Delhi government hospitals will increase by 20,000.

New roads will be ready

Approved 26 mega projects of PWD worth Rs 6409.33 crore. These include roads built in pilot phase under road beautification, construction of double decker flyover between Bhajanpura to Yamuna Vihar and Azadpur to Rani Jhansi Road, flyover at Shastri Park, flyover extension between Ashram to DND, Punjabi Bagh and Raja Garden flyover. Infrastructure projects include beach corridor development and activation of these flyovers, flyover between Anand Vihar and Apsara border, construction of flyover at Nandnagari and Gagan Cinema Junction and elevated corridor at Loni Chowk.
