In the Delhi Kanjhawala rape case, the court extended the remand period of the five accused by four more days. The court agreed that it is necessary to extend the remand period for the arrest and investigation of other accused. All the five accused were brought to the Rohini court, but due to security reasons, they appeared through video conferencing from the lockup of the court itself.

The investigating officer argued before Metropolitan Magistrate Sanya Dalal that to take the investigation further, two more accused in the case have to be arrested. Delhi Police said that the accident happened on the night of 31 December. The girl was dragged in the car for 13 kms. Urging to extend the five-day police remand of the five accused, the police said that CCTV footage has been extracted, CCTV footage of petrol pump and other places was not found. The court questioned the police that why they are asking for 5 days remand, what they did in 3 days remand. The investigating officer said that the matter is very serious and the investigation is taking time.
