The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a national level wrestler. The accused was absconding since 2019 in a case of rape and POCSO. The court had declared him a fugitive. The apprehended accused has been identified as Naresh Sehrawat alias Sonu alias Pehlwan, a resident of Jai Vihar, Delhi. Naresh has been the champion of Delhi many times in wrestling. A total of seven criminal cases including murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, MCOCA and rape and POCSO are registered against the accused.
In the year 2012, Naresh had also escaped from police custody from DDU Hospital. During investigation, police have come to know that Naresh is very close to gangster Neetu Dabodia. Along with Olympian wrestler Sushil Kumar, he used to practice in the same akhada at Chhatrasala Stadium. The police is interrogating him and probing the matter.
Special Commissioner of Crime Branch Ravindra Singh Yadav said that in August 2019, Naresh and his brother-in-law Manjit kidnapped and raped a 16-year-old girl from Chhawla area. In this regard, the police had registered a case of rape and POCSO and arrested Manjit, but the accused Naresh was continuously dodging the police. Apart from the local police, the Crime Branch team was also looking for Naresh.
During this, the team of Inspector Pankaj Malik, Rohit Kumar and others came to know that the accused was going to come to Najafgarh area. After the information, the team laid a trap on the spot. When the accused reached there, the police tried to overpower him, but the accused tricked the police for a long time by showing his wrestling tricks. After a lot of effort, he was brought under control.
Has been Delhi champion many times
Naresh, a multiple-time champion of Delhi in wrestling, entered the world of crime in the year 2006. Naresh joined hands with gangster Amit alias Bablu, Neetu Dabodia and others. These people killed Jai Prakash alias Pehelwan in Bawana by taking betel nut. A case was registered against Naresh and others.
After this, during the panchayat in Bahadurgarh also fired. In the year 2009, MCOCA case was registered against all of them at Narela police station. The police arrested the accused. During judicial custody, the accused was brought to DDU Hospital. From here he escaped from police custody in the year 2012.
