A passenger who went to London 17 years ago has been caught by the Delhi airport in a forgery case. The forgery came to light during the checking of the passenger’s documents at the airport. Actually the passenger had gone to London 17 years ago on the passport of another person. IGI Airport police station has registered a case against the accused and arrested him. The passenger has been identified as Harvinder Singh Puri, a resident of Govind Pura.
According to police sources, late night of January 21, a passenger reached Delhi airport from London. He arrived for immigration clearance. The officials noticed that he was holding an Indian passport, which was issued in the month of August last year. On checking the passport, it was found that no final details of going abroad from India are available on the passport of this number.
When in doubt, the immigration officials interrogated the passenger. The passenger told that he had gone to London on a passport made in the name of another. He had obtained a fake passport in 2006 through an agent. Through which he cheated the immigration and went to London.
The records of his old passport were examined and the veracity of the statement of the passenger was verified. The immigration officials then handed over the passenger to the Delhi Airport Police and recommended registration of a case of forgery against the passenger.
The authorities have handed over to the police the passenger’s current passport, photocopy of the old passport, passenger’s arrival details, UK residence permit and copy of the passenger’s confession. Police is interrogating him to identify the agent who helped the passenger reach London.
