The passengers of Delhi Metro are soon going to get the facility of National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) for travel. For this, the work of upgradation is going on on all the lines of the metro. After its completion, till March, passengers on all the corridors will have only one card for all the transport facilities.

Latest technology is already being used for all the three corridors of Phase-IV, so that passengers can get the facility of this card right from the beginning. Not all lines on the existing network of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) are being upgraded to implement NCMC facilities for commuters, as they do not have modern technology.

Along with the software and hardware, the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates are also being upgraded. With this, you can also use debit, credit card, QR code or mobile for travel. After upgrading the AFC gate, passengers will be able to access multiple options at any station. With this, passengers will not need to go to the counter to buy tickets.

Travel and shopping will be easy
DMRC has already tied up with banks to implement NCMC cards. Under this, apart from metro, bus, RuPay card can also be used in parking or shopping. At present, passengers do not have the facility to travel with metro cards in buses. However, there is definitely an app for traveling in buses. Despite this, with the introduction of NCMC, it will be possible to use all the services with a single card.

80% passengers travel by metro card
About 3300 AFC gates are installed at 286 stations of Delhi Metro. Of these, 550 are being converted to implement NCMC. For the convenience of the passengers, preparations are being made at the stations so that there is no delay in entry and exit. At present, around 2.5 crore metro cards are issued and 80 per cent passengers are using them for travel. With the implementation of NCMC, instead of smart card, other cards can also be used for metro, bus, parking and other services. With the facility of using it through mobile, the passengers will get more convenience. At present, there is a facility to travel through QR code on the Airport Express Line.

Will be able to travel from mobile also
After the implementation of NCMC, passengers will also be able to travel in the metro through mobile. With the implementation of the new system, the passengers will also get the facility of paying the fare through mobile. Due to this, it will not take time to buy tickets or recharge the card before the journey.
