Jammu Kashmir: Future Of Children Roaming On The Streets Will Be Safe, Government Made A Policy

The Social Welfare Board has been abolished in Jammu and Kashmir. Along with this, a policy has also been announced for the rehabilitation of street children. This decision was taken in the administrative council meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. 687 children roaming on the streets will get the benefit of this policy made by the government and their future will be secure.

Street children need protection under the Juvenile Justice Act. It is the responsibility of the government to empower such children. A campaign to identify such children was started by Mission Vatsalya of Social Welfare Department and 687 such children were identified.

Health, school education, housing, rural development, home, labor and employment departments have been given the responsibility to work towards the welfare of children. A committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary will take care of these children. The Social Welfare Department will be responsible for regular monitoring. Along with this, it will also work for the safe future of such children.
