Jnu: Ayurveda N Allopathy Will Be Studied Together, Research On Medicines N Medicine Will Also Be Made

Ayurveda and allopathy will also be taught in Jawaharlal Nehru University along with language. Along with studies, lessons will also be given to improve lifestyle. From session 2023, the School of Sanskrit & Indic Studies and the School of Sciences are starting a five-year B.Sc-M.Sc. Integrated course in Ayurveda Biology and a one-year certificate course in Health Awareness and Wellness. This degree and certificate course will help in improving common problems of common people through Yoga, Meditation, Panchakarma, Naturopathy. The special thing is that instead of medicine to cure various diseases related to lifestyle, the focus will be on curing them through traditional Indian food and routine etc.

Professor Shantisree D Pandit, an alumnus of JNU and the first woman Vice-Chancellor, told that changes are being made in higher education under the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Students will be given an opportunity to study such courses, which will make them entrepreneurs. Under this, students are being given the option of studying modern science from allopathy along with traditional science i.e. Ayurveda. Today most of the people are troubled by the problems caused by the lifestyle. While we can get rid of these problems by making changes in our daily routine and diet. Along with B.Sc Ayurveda Biology and M.Sc Ayurveda Biology, there will be an opportunity to do certificate courses in Health Awareness and Wellness.

School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies Prof. Sudhir Kumar Arya said that Ayurveda and Allopathy would be integrated and studies would be conducted on the basis of traditional and modern science. Most of the diseases that people get nowadays are due to lifestyle. That’s why their diagnosis is also related to our daily routine and diet. Every disease can be cured in Ayurveda.

However, what quantity of medicine to be taken or its chemical reaction can only be explained by the experts of allopathy. That’s why the experts of both will study together. Seasonal diseases (cold, cold, fever etc.), healing of the immune system, health, disease, infection, nature of the body (Vata, Pitta and Kapha), daily routine (from waking up in the morning till sleeping at night) Ritucharya (what, When, how to eat), night routine etc. will be taught in detail. At present, studies are being started.

Seat from the merit of National Admission Entrance Test
Pro. Arya informed that the seat in B.Sc Ayurveda Biology, M.Sc Ayurveda Biology and Health Awareness and Wellness Certificate course will be given on the basis of merit of National Admission Entrance Test. National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the admission entrance test. 12th pass out students from any stream will be able to fill the application form for admission to degree and certificate courses. This will come under the category of professional course of JNU, so the fees will be fixed on the basis of professional course. The university will soon decide the seats and fees. There will be two semesters in the certificate course and basic information of Ayurveda will be given. While the degree will be of three years, it will have detailed study and research.

They will also get a chance to know in studies
Students will also get a chance to learn about Aloe Vera, Cinnamon, Turmeric, Rock Salt, Jaggery, Honey, Gram Flour, Gram, Dal, Rice etc. It will be told that Indian kitchen is a small medicine center, where health can be improved through various means from morning tea to night sleep. Research will be done in the center on Ayurvedic medicines and how we can cure lifestyle diseases etc. Apart from this, there is also a plan to make medicines based on this research.
