Amid rising cold and fog in Delhi, farmers made the government realize their strength by gathering at Ramlila Maidan for ‘Kisan Garjan’ rally, demanding various relief measures from the government.

A note issued by the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, a branch of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, said that if the government did not pay heed to the farmers’ demand in time, it would face trouble. Farmers from across the country reached the Ramlila Maidan in buses, tractors and motorcycles, demanding remunerative prices for their crops based on input costs.

The farmers have also called for withdrawal of GST on all types of agricultural activities and allowing commercial production of genetically modified crops. They are also pushing the Center to increase the financial assistance given under the PM-Kisan scheme.

Explain that under the scheme launched in December 2018, all landholding farmer families are provided assistance of Rs 6,000 per year in three equal installments. A large number of farmers reached the rally and conveyed their demands to the government.
