Voting is to be held today (December 4) on 250 seats in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Delhi Election Watch analyzed the affidavits of 1,336 out of 1,349 candidates, according to which 556 candidates are crorepatis. The average assets per contesting candidate in the MCD elections 2022 is Rs 2.27 crore. And in the 2017 MCD elections, the average assets per candidate for 2,315 candidates was Rs 1.61 crore. There are also 365 candidates who have wealth ranging from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 2 crore. The richest candidate of this election has assets worth more than Rs 66 crore. Of the 1336 candidates contesting the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections, 556 (42%) are crorepatis. In the 2017 MCD elections, out of 2315 candidates, 697 (30%) were crorepatis. This time maximum 65 percent of BJP candidates are crorepatis. 60% of Congress and 44% of Aam Aadmi Party candidates are those who have assets of one crore or more. Out of total 129 candidates of BSP which is at fourth place in this list, 43 candidates (33%) are crorepatis.

1. Ram Dev Sharma: Ram Dev Sharma is the richest candidate of Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Sharma is contesting from the 79-Ballimaran seat of Delhi Central on behalf of the BJP. In the election affidavit, he has declared his total assets as more than 66 crore 90 lakhs. This includes more than 11 crore movable and more than 55 crore immovable property. In 2020-21, income tax returns of more than 55 lakhs were filed by him. Sharma has 26 residential houses. Four commercial buildings are also named after him. MCD’s richest candidate is just 8th pass. There is no vehicle in his name.
2. Nandini Sharma: Nandini Sharma is the second richest candidate in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections. Nandini is contesting from the BJP’s 149-Malviya Nagar seat in Delhi South. In the election affidavit, he has declared his total assets as more than 49 crore 84 lakhs. This includes more than nine crore movable and more than 40 crore immovable assets. Nandini is a homeopathic doctor. He has done PhD.
3. Jitender Bansala: Jitender Bansala is the third richest candidate of Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Bansala is contesting from the 248-Karwai Nagar-West seat of Delhi North-East on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket. In the election affidavit, he has declared his total assets as more than 48 crores. This includes more than one crore movable and more than 46 crore immovable assets. Jitender Bansala is the principal of the school. His wife is also a school teacher. Jitender has done MA from CCS University Meerut.
4. Rajpal Singh: Rajpal Singh is the fourth richest candidate in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections. Rajpal is contesting from the 174-Shri Niwas Puri seat in Delhi South-East on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket. In the election affidavit, he has declared his total assets as more than 47 crores. This includes more than two crore movable and more than 45 crore immovable assets. There are a total of 16 residential houses in the name of Rajpal and his wife. Rajpal is BA pass.
5. Raj Kumar Khurana: Raj Kumar Khurana is the fifth richest candidate in Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Khurana is contesting from 91-Ramesh Nagar seat of Delhi West as an independent candidate. In the election affidavit, he has declared his total assets as more than 43 crores. This includes more than seven crore movable and more than 35 crore immovable assets. Raj Kumar, 54 years old, has done MBA in 2019.
6. Manju Setia: Manju Setia is the sixth richest candidate in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Setia is contesting from the 98-Subhash Nagar seat of Delhi West on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket. In the election affidavit, he has declared his total assets as more than 42 crores. This includes more than seven crore movable and more than 35 crore immovable assets.
7. Rajeev Kumar: Rajeev Kumar is the seventh richest candidate of Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Kumar is contesting as an independent candidate from the 125-Chhawala seat in Delhi South-West. In the election affidavit, he has declared his total assets as more than 38 crores. This includes more than five lakh movable and more than 37 crore immovable assets.
8. Vineet Vohra: Vineet Vohra is the eighth richest candidate in Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Vohra is contesting on a BJP ticket from the 59-Paschim Vihar seat in Delhi North. In the election affidavit, he has declared his total assets as more than 37 crores. This includes more than four crore movable and more than 33 crore immovable assets.
9. Kuldeep Mittal: Kuldeep Mittal is the ninth richest candidate of Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Mittal is contesting from 53-Rohini-E in Delhi North on an Aam Aadmi Party ticket. In the election affidavit, he has declared his total assets as more than 34 crores. This includes more than 14 crore movable and more than 19 crore immovable property.

10. Renu Chowdhary: Renu Chowdhary is the 10th richest candidate in Delhi Municipal Corporation elections. Bansala is contesting from the 197-Patpar Ganj seat of Delhi East on a BJP ticket. In the election affidavit, he has declared his total assets as more than 30 crores. This includes more than 78 lakh movable and more than 30 crore immovable property.
