In the MCD elections, the BJP may have stayed away from the majority figure, but it is not lagging behind in the race to grab the power of the corporation. The party which crossed the figure of 100 is now in the process of gaining power for the fourth time in the House. On Wednesday, after the statement of MP Gautam Gambhir that only the BJP will finish the garbage mountain, there was a disturbance in the politics of Delhi. Everyone is trying to make their own meaning out of it.
At the same time, in the party office, from central office bearers to prominent leaders held meetings continuously. It is also evident from the tips given by the leaders by calling the winning councilors to the state office that BJP’s khichdi is being cooked inside to make them mayor. On the other hand, after getting a stir in politics, the AAP Aadmi Party also reacted in its own way and said that if you have the courage, show it by making yourself mayor in the BJP corporation.
Earlier, party state president Adesh Gupta, media relations chief Harish Khurana, election management committee convenor Ashish Sood, senior vice-president Virendra Sachdeva, spokespersons Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Yasir Jilani and all other leaders looked confident, despite the election results not being in their favour. The BJP leader did not hesitate to say that the party has performed much better than the contrary claims being discussed in the exit polls and elsewhere.
That’s why the party wants to remain in power
BJP leaders are not in favor of repeating their old mistake. In the Delhi Assembly elections (2013), the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 32 seats, but due to lack of magic number, the Aam Aadmi Party government was formed with the support of the Congress. After withdrawing the support of the Congress, the BJP was in favor of holding elections instead of forming the government through manipulations. After this, the Aam Aadmi Party continued to hoist the flag in the elections and today it is running the government in two states. Taking lesson from this, BJP will not make this mistake again.
Anti-defection law does not apply
Recently, in the amended DMC Act for the purpose of integration in Parliament, no provision has been kept for anti-defection law. It has also been clarified that nominated members do not have the right to vote. In this way, 250 councilors elected, 10 expert members nominated by the administrator and 14 MLAs by the speaker will be the house of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi with 274 members. Due to the non-implementation of anti-defection law, any councilor can vote in favor of the mayoral candidate of any party in the mayoral election. For this, no whip is issued by the party. The councilor can also remain absent in the house. The party for which the mayor was voted for can definitely become the mayor. In a way it can be called cross voting.
Discussion of the green signal of the party high command
It is also discussed that for this the party high command has also given the green signal, so that apart from the independent councilors, others also do not refrain from standing in favor of the BJP mayor. For this, some senior officials have been specially entrusted with the responsibility. It is very important to make a mayor in the power of MCD to stop the increasing graph of AAP continuously. By the way, if BJP State Election Management Committee coordinator and co-incharge of Jammu and Kashmir Ashish Sood is to be believed, the first meeting of the corporation will be held in January and only then the mayor will be elected. MPs and MLAs also vote in the election of Mayor.
Councilor listen to the voice of conscience
BJP state president Adesh Gupta has made it clear that the anti-defection law does not apply in the mayor’s election. In such a situation, any councilor is free to help even on the voice of conscience. The mayor’s election is yet to be held. Anything is possible during this election as the elected councilors will work for the betterment of Delhi. Without taking names, he said that all the people who want the betterment of Delhi will be seen standing with the BJP. However, later he said that the BJP would continue to raise the problems of the people in a positive manner. By making the people of Delhi victorious in 104 wards, the responsibility of a strong opposition has been entrusted. BJP will continue to take responsibility for this.
Not only independents, will keep an eye on own and strangers
As per the DMC Act, the first mayor will be a woman and will hold office for three months. Independent councilors are also being monitored. It is being told that two councilors are rebels of BJP, they will be brought back home. Similarly, there are many such posts in MCD on which the councilors keep an eye. The BJP has given the main mantra to the councilors who have won, to remain united. BJP has said that you people are the strength of the organization. In the meeting he was encouraged and congratulated that better performance in Aam Aadmi Party wave means good and clean grip in the area. It has also been said that there is no need to live under any kind of temptation, because the mayor will be of BJP only.
Open challenge to BJP, show it as mayor
After the ongoing political upheaval in the BJP regarding the post of mayor, Aam Aadmi Party’s state convenor Gopal Rai has given an open challenge that if it has the courage, the BJP should make it its mayor. Gopal said that even in the year 2013, BJP had tried to poach AAP MLAs, but could not succeed even then. Our leaders were honest then and are still loyal to the party. We are not afraid of false allegations and going to jail. Can’t scare us with false cases. They sent our minister to jail before the corporation elections. The house of the Deputy Chief Minister was raided. Released fake videos, but the public made me win. Delhiites had nothing to do with these false and fake videos. They only ask for work which only Kejriwal’s government can do.
Mayor will also belong to you: Sanjay Singh
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that whatever BJP may do. The mayor in the corporation will also belong to you. This time AAP has got 80 seats more than the last election, while BJP lost 80 seats. Delhiites have reposed faith in Kejriwal and now their mayor will run the corporation.
Councilors getting calls: Sisodia
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia tweeted that the BJP’s game has begun. You councilors have started getting calls. We have told the councilors to record any call received.
