The next meeting of the House to elect the mayor of MCD is not likely to be held soon, as the MCD and the presiding officer have not taken any interest in calling the meeting of the House again. On January 6, when the election of the mayor was not held, the MCD had started the process of fixing the date of the meeting on the next working day, but did not do so this time. At the same time, the presiding officer has also not contacted the Lieutenant Governor like last time.

There was no hesitation on Wednesday between the MCD and the presiding officer to hasten the election of the mayor. No initiative was taken on Wednesday to fix the date for calling a meeting of the House on behalf of the MCD to conduct the election of the mayor. Due to the sealing of Civic Center in the afternoon on account of Republic Day, MCD could function only for half a day. Therefore, there is a possibility of starting the process on Monday to fix the date of the meeting of the MCD House. After this, the Lieutenant Governor will decide to fix the date of the meeting. On the other hand, the Presiding Officer Satya Sharma has also not contacted the Lieutenant Governor to inform about the non-election of the Mayor in the House meeting on Tuesday. She will also inform the Lieutenant Governor about the whole situation next week itself.
