The High Court has directed the authorities to ensure compliance of the law banning the manufacture, sale and distribution of e-cigarettes.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma declined to entertain a PIL seeking constitution of a committee for effective implementation of the Electronic (E) Cigarette Prevention Act-2019. The bench underlined that action is being taken under this law in the government machinery.
The court has asked the authorities to ensure that e-cigarettes are not sold online. The police have also been directed by the High Court to take steps to stop the sale of e-cigarettes near schools and colleges.
