Chandigarh District Bar Association (DBA) elections were held at District Court Sector-43 on Friday. The results for the main post were released late at 2 am. The counting of votes was on for the remaining posts. Shankar Gupta won the prime post by defeating his rivals Karandeep Khullar, Neeraj Hans and Shalini Kumari.
Rajat Bakshi, Pratibha Bhandari and Sukhwinder Singh were in a tough fight for the post of Deputy Principal. At the same time, the contest between Bhupinder Rana and Deepan Sharma continued for the post of secretary.
The contest was going on between Samranjit Kaur, Sonia Kaushik and Surindra Pal Kaur for the post of Joint Secretary. Amandeep Singh, Mohit Dahiya and Vijay Kumar Agarwal were in the fray for the post of treasurer. At the same time, a contest was going on between Datinder Kumar and Gurdev Singh for the post of Library Secretary.
Voting for the election was to begin at 9 am on Friday. Voters started arriving at 8 am itself. Voters cast their vote by standing in long queues. At the same time, people from different parties were present there carrying banners to increase the enthusiasm of the voters.
For the first time in history, this election was held in a hi-tech manner. To prevent bogus voting, this time the lawyers got entry after their mobile verification. Through a software, the lawyers were allowed to vote only after completion of verification.
