Outbreak of cold wave in Delhi

The people of north and northwest India, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, who are chilling due to severe cold, are expected to get some relief from January 19 onwards. Due to the icy winds coming from the mountains, there was severe cold in these areas on Monday as well. Safdarjung, the main meteorological center of Delhi, recorded a minimum temperature of 1.4 degrees Celsius. This made January 16 the coldest day of the season in the capital. According to the Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature in Delhi may come down to 1 degree Celsius on Tuesday. According to the department, due to western disturbances on the night of 18 and 20 January, the winter will begin to subside from Thursday. However, there are chances of almost getting rid of the dense fog.
