The dead body of a woman remained hanging for three days in Geeta Colony of Shahdara district. The family kept calling for his well-being, but when there was no response, the relatives reached home. On reaching inside by cutting the door, the death of the woman was found. The deceased has been identified as Neha Arora (31). Neha’s husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law and brother-in-law are continuously absconding since the incident. On the complaint of Neha’s father Chandramohan Nahal and on the orders of the SDM, the police have registered a case of dowry death and harassment.

The relatives allege that 10 lakh cash and a big car were demanded from them. Neha was beaten like an animal if her demands were not met. Apart from the police, the family had also complained to the Women’s Commission. The complaint was given to the CAW cell on November 18 last month. It is alleged that despite this the police is not taking any action against the accused.

Neha’s father Chandra Mohan Nahal told that he lives with the family in E-Block, Gali No-3 Kanti Nagar. In February 2017, he married his daughter Neha Arora to Puneet Arora, a resident of Geeta Colony. A few days after the marriage, fighting started with Neha. Puneet’s father, mother and brother-in-law used to beat Neha. Because of this she was upset.

Wanted to create pressure through police and commission
The family wanted to pressurize Puneet’s family by complaining to the Police and the Women’s Commission. For this reason, complaints were made at both the places, but no action was taken.

The last talk happened on December 5
Chandramohan told that he last spoke to his daughter on the night of December 5. After this his phone did not pick up. On December 6, the phone did not pick up. When this happened on seven too, the family was a bit shocked and when they reached Neha’s house at Sarojini Naidu Park, Shastri Nagar, on the second floor, they saw that the door of the house was locked. The family returned after ringing the bell. The next day, on December 8, the family reached there again. The main gate was opened by asking for another key from the landlord. The drawing room door was also locked inside. When it was cut open, Neha’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan.

SDM is also investigating along with the police
Apart from the crime team, the police reached the information of the incident and FSL was called on the spot. After this, the dead body was taken into possession and sent to the mortuary. Apart from the police, the regional SDM is probing the matter.
